Walsall Football Club is a professional football club based in Walsall, West Midlands, England. The club was founded in 1888 as Walsall Town Swifts, an amalgamation of Walsall Town F.C. and Walsall Swifts F.C. The club was one of the founder members of the Second Division in 1892. It spent the next four decades in the Second Division before falling to the Third Division in 1932. The club returned to the second tier of English football in 1988 and spent the next 23 seasons there before falling to League One in 2011. The club has reached the final of the League Trophy twice, in 2000 and 2007.
