Salford City Football Club is a professional football club in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. The club competes in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system, and plays its home matches at Moor Lane.
Salford City was founded in 1940 and spent its early history playing in the Manchester Amateur Sunday League. The club won the league in 1964–65 and were promoted to the Manchester League, where they won the title in 1968–69. The club won the FA Vase in 1974, and were promoted to the Northern Premier League. In the 1980s, the club fell into financial difficulties and were forced to resign from the league.
The club was reformed in 1991, and rejoined the Manchester League. The club won the league in 1993–94 and were promoted to the North West Counties League. The club won the league in 1997–98 and were promoted to the Northern Premier League. The club won the league in 1999–2000 and were promoted to the Conference North. The club won the Conference North in 2002–03 and were promoted to the Conference National. The club won the Conference National in 2005–06 and were promoted to League Two. The club won the League Two play-offs in 2019, and were promoted to League One.
