Morecambe Football Club is an English professional football club based in Morecambe, Lancashire. The club competes in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system.
Founded in 1920, the club spent its early years playing in local leagues before joining the Lancashire Combination in 1934. Morecambe gained election to the Football League in 1978, spending nine seasons in the Fourth Division before being promoted to the Third Division in 1987. The club experienced financial difficulties in the early 2000s, but has since stabilised.
Morecambe have been FA Cup giant-killers on several occasions, defeating top-flight sides like Everton, Middlesbrough, and Fulham. The club has also reached the League Cup second round on three occasions, most recently in 2016.
