Brentford Football Club is based in Brentford, Greater London, England. The club was founded in 1889 and plays its home games at Griffin Park, its ground since 1904. Brentford competes in the EFL Championship, the second tier of the English football league system.
Brentford has been described as a "yo-yo club", having been promoted to the second tier of English football three times since the late 1970s, and each time returning to the third tier within four years. Brentford's most successful spell came during the 1930s, when it achieved consecutive top-six finishes in the First Division. Brentford have been FA Cup quarter-finalists on four occasions, and have been runners-up of the Football League Trophy on three occasions.
As of the 2020–21 season, Brentford are ranked 11th in the EFL Championship. Brentford's main rivals are Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Barnet.
