Liverpool Football Club is an English professional football club based in Liverpool, Merseyside. The club was formed in 1892 following a disagreement between the board of Everton FC and its president, John Houlding. The disagreement between Houlding and the Everton board arose over the club's proposed move to a new stadium, which Houlding believed would be too expensive. As a result, Houlding founded Liverpool FC.
The club has won five European Cups, three UEFA Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, eighteen League titles, seven FA Cups, a record eight League Cups, and fifteen FA Community Shields. Liverpool FC is one of the most successful clubs in England and has a large fan base both in England and across the world.
